Bruno DiBonaventura

Bruno DiBonaventura

It is with deep sorrow and with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden and peaceful passing of Bruno DiBonaventura, 84, at his home in Moncton on Friday, August 18, 2017.

Born in Elce, Abruzzo, Italy, on May 3, 1933, he was the beloved son of the late Francesco and Annunziata (DiSimone) DiBonaventura.

Bruno was the 7th of 11 children and lived in Italy until the age of 24. He then moved to Germany for 5 years before coming to Moncton where he married and raised his family. He worked as a self-employed concrete finisher. A kind man with few words, Bruno loved his family dearly. Sunday lunches with his family around the table was the highlight of his week. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, playing cards, walking in the woods, and making wine. All that knew him had a great respect for him. He lived his live with a very strong sense of values.

Bruno will be sadly missed by his wife of 53 years, Colombina née (DiSaverio); his three children: Franca (Bill Hennessey), Serge (Franca), and Marco; his five grandchildren whom he adored: Gino, Franco, Mario, Giuliana, and Patrick; his two brothers: Mario and Guerino (Valentina); many nieces, and nephews.

Besides his parents and siblings, a nephew and 2 nieces predeceased him.

The family will receive condolences at the Frenette Funeral and Cremation Centre, 88 Church Street, Moncton (858-1900). Visiting hours Monday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. only.

The funeral mass will be celebrated at Notre-dame-de-la-Paix R.C. church, 87 Murphy Avenue, Moncton, Tuesday, August 22 at 11 a.m.

Interment will be in Our Lady of Calvary Cemetery, Dieppe.

In memory of Bruno, a contribution to the NB Heart & Stroke Foundation would be appreciated.
