Emerise LeBlanc, formerly of Moncton, passed away on Friday November 24, 2017 at the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont UHC at the age of 102 years and 11 months. She resided at L’Oasis D’Or in Dieppe. Born on January 9, 1915 in Grande-Digue, she was the daughter of the late Auguste and Céline (Léger) Bourque.
She was an exceptional mother, cook, homemaker, quilter and seamstress. Emerise also enjoyed bowling, playing cards, travelling and dancing with her late husband Alyre. Her latest hobby was to knit hundreds of pairs of mittens for the children.
Emerise is survived by six daughters: Rose-Marie Bertolin (Umberto) of Riverview, Thérèse Cormier (Ronald) Violette LeBlanc (Roger) of Moncton, Hélène Dupuis (Rhéal), Patricia Léger, and Carmelle Poirier (Claude) of Dieppe; one son, Eugène LeBlanc (Huguette) of Cocagne; 17 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
She was predeceased by her husband, Alyre (2010); six sisters: Emilienne, Anna, Léonie, Exelda, Lorette and Irène; four brothers: Patrick, Eric, René and Arcade as well as one son-in-law; Roméo Léger.
The family will receive relatives and friends at Frenette Funeral and Cremation Centre, 88 Church Street, Moncton (858-1900) on Wednesday November 29, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm and Thursday November 30 from 1pm until time of departure (1:45pm). The funeral mass will be celebrated at Notre-Dame-de-la-Paix R.C. church, 87 Murphy Avenue, Moncton, on Thursday November 30 at 2pm. Interment will be in Our Lady of Calvary cemetery, Dieppe.
