Raymond Cormier

1928-2017

Raymond Cormier

Raymond Cormier, 89, of Auberge du Soleil in Dieppe, passed peacefully at the Dr. Georges-L. Dumont Hospital on Thursday November 30, 2017. Born May 31, 1928 in Moncton, he was the son of the late Camille and Juliette (Goguen) Cormier.

Raymond’s biggest joy in life was to spend time with his family and friends, providing care to those in need, and providing comfort and support to family members and others. He retired as office manager at Coop Farm Services in 1986. He dedicated most of his life to volunteer services with various organizations in the Moncton-Dieppe areas, including Cathedral Notre-Dame-de-l’Assomption, Club d’Âge d’Or Assomption and Dieppe, and Foyer St-Antoine to name a few. He enjoyed dancing, bowling, painting, gardening and social activities. He loved life to the fullest until he succumbed to the effects of Parkinson’s disease.

He is survived by his three children: Maurice (Suzanne), Michel (Liette), and Janice Jaillet (Robert); five grandchildren: Lynne (Colin), Pierre (Jessica), Jessica (Stephane), Patrick, and Jean-Luc; one great-grandchild, Josephine; six step-children: Daniel (Andrée), Gilbert (Claudette), Claudine Gagnon (Gerry), Rachelle Fontaine (Bernard), Michel (Anne), and Robert; 14 step-grandchildren: Gilles, Charline, Marc, Ginette, Denis, Luc, Marc-André, Rémi, Stéphane, Luc, Matthieu, Marc, Benoit, and Pierre; two brothers: Roger (Lucienne) and Ronald; one sister, Camilla Gallant (Thomas); many brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, and nephews.

He was predeceased by his first wife, Viola Robichaud; his second wife, Bertha Doucet; two brothers: Paul and Henri, two sisters: Doris Cormier and Dorilla LeBlanc.

Special thanks to Dr. Boissonnault, the doctors and nurses and staff of 3C and palliative care of the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont UHC as well as Louise Boissonnault, spiritual counsellor, and care providers at L’Auberge du Soleil.

The family will receive condolences at Frenette Funeral and Cremation Centre, 88 Church, Moncton (858-1900) Friday December 8 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm only. The funeral mass will be celebrated at Ste-Thérèse-de-l’Enfant-Jésus, 457 Acadie Avenue, Dieppe on Saturday December 9 at 10 am. Interment will be in Our Lady of Calvary cemetery, Dieppe.

In memory of Raymond, a contribution to the Parkinson Society, the Foundation Fighting Blindness or the CHU Dumont Foundation would be appreciated.
