Laura Langis, 92, of the Oasis D’Or residence in Dieppe, formerly from Moncton, passed away peacefully at the Palliative Care Unit of the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont UHC on Friday, February 2, 2018. She was the daughter of the late Edmond Jules and Sarah (née Lirette) Langis.
Laura was a retired employee of the Government of Canada Employment Insurance Department. She had previously been employed by Eaton’s and the North End News.
Laura was a loving aunt to many nieces and nephews. She is survived by one sister, Yvonne Dykes of Campbell River, BC.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by several brothers and sisters: Alonzo (late Eugénie), Léandre (late Eveline), Dolorise Gautreau (late Albert), Aimé (late Yvonne), Roger (late Eveline), Loraine, Lucille Gallant (late Albert), Geraldine LeBlanc (Euclide), Rudolphe (late Marguerite), Edmond (Martina), Roger, Anita and Antoine.
The family will receive condolences at Frenette Funeral and Cremation Centre, 88 Church Street, Moncton (858-1900) on Tuesday February 6 from 7 to 9 pm and Wednesday from 9:30 am until time of departure (10:45). The funeral mass will be celebrated at the Christ Roi R.C. Church, 300 Dominion Street, Moncton on Wednesday February 7 at 11 am followed by a reception at the Club D’âge D’or du Christ-Roi. Interment to be held later at Our Lady of Calvary cemetery, Dieppe.
A special thanks to the nurses and doctors of the Palliative Care Unit at the CHU Dumont Foundation and the wonderful caregivers at the Oasis d’Or residence in Dieppe for the warmth and care they gave Laura over the years. She always said how good they were to her.
