Rival ‘Val’ Picard, 75, of Dieppe passed away Saturday October 27, 2018 at the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont UHC. Born February 28, 1943 in Edmundston, he was the son of the Late Georges and Clémence (Boucher) Picard.
Rival was a loving husband, father and grandfather who had a way to make everybody at ease. Graduating in 1961, he started his career with Canadian National Railway as a station agent and many years in marketing before retiring in 1998. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus (Council 11185, St-Alphonse-de-Liguori) in Moncton. He enjoyed many sports such as hockey, baseball, bowling and curling.
He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Céline (née Landry); his children: Marie-Josée (Stephen MacEachern) and Jean-Marc; his grandchildren: Anabelle and Alexi; his siblings: Lise, Jean-Louis (France) and Fernand (Danielle); the mother of his grandchildren, Sophie Ménard, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Rhéal, and a sister, Pierette.
The family will receive condolences at Frenette Funeral and Cremation Centre, 88 Church Street, Moncton (858-1900) Tuesday October 30, 2018 from 2pm to 4pm and from 7pm to 9pm ONLY. The funeral mass will be celebrated in Sainte-Thérèse-de-l’Enfant-Jésus R.C. Church, 160 Sainte-Thérèse Street, Dieppe on Wednesday October 31, 2018 at 11am. His final resting place will be at the Saint-Anselme R.C. cemetery in Dieppe.
