It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Normand Babineau, 90, of Moncton, on Wednesday October 31, 2018 at the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont hospital. Born on January 8, 1928 in Notre-Dame-de-Kent, he was the son of the late Lévi and Eva (Goguen) Babineau.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Lilianne née Williams; three daughters: Huguette (Aldéric Richard), Janice (Donald Arsenault) and Nicole (Terry Daigle); six grandchildren: Michel, Yves, Isabelle, Mélanie, Natasha and Monika, and eight great-grandchildren; two brothers: Lévi (Corinne) and Paul (Marie); two sisters: Francine (Adelard Williams) and Géraldine (late Léandre Bourque).
He was predeceased by his son-in-law, Benoit Caissie; one brother, Léo; two sisters: Rhéa and Florence.
Normand retired from Coop Atlantique after 35 years of service. He loved gardening and spending time at his cottage in Notre-Dame.
The family will receive condolences at Frenette Funeral Centre, 88 Church Street, Moncton (858-1900). Visiting hours are Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm and Monday from 12:30 pm until time of departure (1:45). The funeral mass will be celebrated at Notre-Dame-de-Grâce R.C. Church, 854 Mountain Road, Moncton, on Monday November 5 at 2 pm. Interment will be in Notre-Dame.
A sincere thank you to the palliative care nurses, the doctors, his friends and loved ones who accompanied him with tenderness and dedication during his stay at the hospital.
