Clarence Girouard, 79, of Moncton, passed away on Sunday November 11, 2018 at The Moncton Hospital. Born on September 28, 1939 in Moncton, he was the son of the late Zephyr and Albertine (Arsenault) Girouard.
Clarence spent 40 years volunteering in the world of hockey, softball and baseball as a coach, league official, time and score keeper, announcer, canteen worker, ticket taker and equipment manager. In hockey season, he spent six to 14 hours a day, seven days a week at the rink. Involved in many key sporting events, including the 1999 Canadian Junior Championships, the 1975 Intercontinental Cup and the 1997 World Youth Baseball Championships, Clarence was inducted into the Moncton Sports Hall of Fame and the New Brunswick Baseball Hall of Fame.
He is survived by two sisters: Doris Saulnier (Armand) and Anna Haché (Roland); three brothers: Bob, Joe (late Marilyn), and Paul (Anita Cormier); as well as several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive condolences at Frenette Funeral and Cremation Centre, 88 Church Street, Moncton (858-1900). Visiting hours are Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm only. The funeral mass will be celebrated at Christ-Roi R.C. Church, 300 Dominion Street, Moncton, on Thursday November 15 at 11 am. Interment will be in Our Lady of Calvary cemetery, Dieppe.
