It is with great sadness that the family of Jorma Kalevi Lappi announces his passing on November 23, 2018, after a courageous fight with illness, at the age of 75, in the Moncton Hospital.
Jorma started his life in Tampere, Finland, and had the opportunity to travel many parts of the world, including living in Australia and South Africa, before settling in Canada in 1975. He operated his own business as an electrician for much of his life and was known for his perfectionist. He met his love of his life, Norma, in 1979 and the two were inseparable for the rest of the 40 years they spent together.
He is lovingly remembered by family and friends for his humour, love of a good song and a dance, and willingness to always be there for others. His family always came first in his heart, and we carry that with us forever.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Norma Marie née Mercure; two daughters: Krysta LeBlanc (Daniel) of Shediac, and Mia Elena Lappi-Jansson (Micah) of West Vancouver, BC; three grandchildren: Khalia, Emily, and Noah, as well as nieces and nephews.
He was the son of the late Anna-Liisa Laaksojoki and Jorma Hellein, and was predeceased by two brothers, Markku and Mauri, as well as one sister, Heli.
The Lappi family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the Moncton Hospital, as well as the doctors and staff who cared for him. A heartfelt special thanks to Dr. Amelie Theriault who provided the utmost of professional care as well as comfort to dad and all of us.
Family and friends will gather for a Celebration of Jorma’s Life, Sunday, December 2, at 2 pm at 9 Keenan Drive, Moncton.
In memory of Jorma, a contribution to the Friends of The Moncton Hospital Foundation (oncology) would be appreciated.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Frenette Funeral and Cremation Centre, Moncton (858-1900).
