Surrounded by his loving family, Alphie Gallant,85, passed away on Saturday, January 5, 2019, at his residence on Caissie Avenue in Shediac. Born in 1933, he was the son of the late Hypolite and Aurélia (LaFrance) Gallant.
Alphie was a life long truck driver whose passion for the industry and the people he worked with at Dango’s trucking in Cormier-Village, led to his retirement at the age of 80. He was a proud member of the Knights of Columbus (Council 9178) in Cap-Pelé and 4th Degree Member (Council 2793) in Grand-Barachois who will, in his memory, have an honor guard on Friday evening.
He will be sadly missed by his wife of 66 years, Léona Gallant (née Cormier); five children: Yvonne, Theresa, Angela Cormier (Robert), Roméo (Carole) and Juliette (Maurice Collette); two sisters: Angela Goguen (late Adrice) and Jeannette Arsenault (Ron); four brothers: Fred (Delma), Laurie (Joan), Edgar (Edith) and Eddy (Sherlaine); 11 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grand-daughter as well as many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by a daughter Stella; his siblings: Horace, Sara, Doris, Tony, Arthur and Valérie.
He will be resting at Frenette Funeral and Cremation Centre, 396, Main Street, Shediac (532-3297). Visiting hours: Friday January 11, 2019 from 2pm to 4pm and 7pm to 9pm ONLY. The funeral service will be held on Saturday January 12, 2019 at 11am at the Funeral Centre. Alphie’s final resting place will be in Frenette Funeral and Cremation Centre’s columbarium, Shediac.
