René ''The Sniper'' LeBlanc
René "The Sniper" LeBlanc, 92, of Riverview and formerly of Moncton, passed away on Saturday February 2, 2019 at The Moncton Hospital. Born in Moncton, he was the son of the late Didace and Amanda (LeBlanc) LeBlanc.
René worked in accounting at CN for 32 years before his retirement. He owned Edna's Variety with wife Dorina LeBlanc, coached kids’ hockey (Lewisville Minor Hockey), played hockey with the Dieppe Goats (1949-51) alongside best friends Cammie LeBlanc and Pete Gauvin, and was inducted into the Dieppe Sports Hall of Fame. René was a die hard fan of the Montréal Canadiens. To the Best Dad in the World, you were loved, and you will be missed. Thanks for all the great memories, your love, and all the laughter. xxxooo
He is survived by four children: Joanne LeBlanc (Murray Brewster), Jacques, Gisèle Bartram (Victor), of Riverview, and Daniel of Moncton; seven grandchildren: Jason, Stéphane, Tara, Jarett, Joshua, Jessica, and Evan; one great-grandchild, Holland-Grace Bartram; one sister, Jeannette Cormier (late Normand) of Florida; as well as several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his wife, Dorina Bourgeois; his second wife, Noella Cormier; one son, Maurice; six siblings: Aline, Alice, Généva, Yvon, Dismas, and infant Jean-Paul.
The family will receive condolences at Frenette Funeral and Cremation Centre, 88 Church Street, Moncton (858-1900) Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm only. The funeral mass will be celebrated at Notre-Dame-de-la-Paix R.C. church, 87 Murphy Avenue, Moncton on Thursday February 7 at 11 am.
In memory of René, in lieu of flowers, a contribution to the Lewisville Minor Hockey Association, or mass at the Notre-Dame-de-l'Assomption Cathedral, or to a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated.
