Albertine Poirier, 92, of Shediac River, passed away on Friday February 8, 2019 at the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont UHC. Born in Sainte-Marie-de-Kent, she was the daughter of the late Damien and Marie (Richard) Bastarache.
Her greatest joy in life was time spent with her family, and having held her first great-grandchild. She also enjoyed music, socializing, playing cards, knitting and reading.
Her beautiful smile will be missed.
She is survived by four daughters: Gisèle of Dieppe, Jacinthe of Ottawa, Marie-Louise Bourgeois (Marcel) of Grande-Digue, Pierrette of Shediac Cape; one son, Jean-Gilles (Mariette) of Dartmouth; two sisters: Lucie Poirier (Joe) of Bouctouche and Germaine Cormier (Normand) of Shediac River; four brothers: Georges (Gloria), Néri (late Bernadette), Emile, all three from Shediac River, and Ovila (late Louise) of Waltham: three grandchildren: Gaétan (Marie-Josée), Manon Saulnier (Allain) and Lucas; one great-grandson, Miguel as well as many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Arthur; one son: Gilles; three brothers: Léandre, Gérard and Léo-Paul.
The family will receive condolences at Frenette Funeral Home, 396 Main Street, Shediac (532-3297) from where the funeral will be celebrated on Tuesday February 12 at 2 pm. Visiting hours are: Monday from 6:30pm to 9pm and Tuesday from 1pm until time of funeral. Interment will be in Sainte-Anne parish cemetery, Sainte-Anne-de-Kent.
The family wishes to express a special thank you to the staff at Villa Providence for the excellent care provided for the last 5 years. We also wish to thank Dr. Veilleux and all the medical staff at the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont UHC for their care and compassion.
