Aline Goguen

1924-2020

Aline Goguen

Aline Goguen passed away peacefully Saturday, March 14, 2020 at Foyer Saint-Antoine. She was the daughter of the late Donat Babineau and Azélie (Richard) Babineau, and was greatly loved by her husband of 31 years, Aristide, until his death in 1980.

Aline was predeceased by her son Claude (Dianne) in 2019. She was also predeceased by three sisters: Lina Leblanc (late Yvon). Rita Cormier (late Gérald) and infant Marie; three brothers: Yvon (Eugénie), Donald (Bella) and toddler Alphonse.

She is survived by three sisters: Jeanette Girouard (Paul), Louise Christopher (Joe), both of Saint-Antoine, and Mai Cormier of Notre-Dame; three brothers: Aurèle Babineau (late Thérèse), Ernest Babineau (Barbara), both of Saint-Antoine and Gérald Babineau (Lucille) of Terrebonne Qué.

Aline will be greatly missed by her four children: Majella Béland and Jean-Marc Goguen (Norma) of Saint-Antoine, Ginette Goguen-Daigle (Réal) and Daniel Goguen (Lise) of Moncton, daughter-in-law Dianne Williams of Saint-Antoine, and special family friend Noël Caissie.

Mémère Goguen was also loved and appreciated by her nine grandchildren: Gaétan Goguen, Julien Goguen (Denise), Franceline Bugge (David), Annie Dietrich (Kent), François Goguen, Stéphanie Goguen, Camille Goguen, Amélie Goguen (Paul-Henri) and Christopher Boucher (Julie). She was also the proud great grandmother of Alicia, Faith, Alexandre, Noah, Alexander, Benjamin and Annabelle.

The loss of Aline will leave a great void in her community, as she will be remembered for her kindness and generosity towards all who were fortunate enough to know her. Her intelligence and natural curiosity for ideas and individuals made her home a welcoming place for great conversation. A true matriarch, her quick wit and eagerness to share her skills in numerous domestic arts will be greatly missed by many.

Due to the pandemic and at the request of the family, a private funeral service will be celebrated at Frenette Funeral and Cremation Centre, 88 Church Street, Moncton (858-1900) on Friday August 7 at 2 pm. The funeral service will be streamed live; there will be a link with her obituary on our Website. Interment will be in Saint-Antoine parish cemetery. In memory of Aline, a contribution to the Foyer Saint-Antoine would be appreciated.
