Françis Vautour

1929-2020

Françis Vautour

It is with sadness that we announce the passing of our father, Françis Vautour, 90, of Bas-Cap-Pelé. He passed away following a short illness on Monday April 27, 2020 at the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont UHC. Born in Bas-Cap-Pelé, he was the son of the late Willie and Dométhilde (Bourque) Vautour.

Françis provided for his family by working as a logger, a lobster fisherman and a smokehouse employee and always proved to be a hard worker. He was a great life narrator and loved camping, listening to music and watching hockey and baseball. Family was also an important part of his life. He treasured the time spent with his wife, children and grandchildren, and family reunions were among his most cherished moments.

He is survived by seven sons: Raymond (Noëlla) of Cap-Pelé, Éric of Hamilton, ON, Norman (Jasmine), Michael (Diane), Brian (Monette), Gary and Pierre (Charlene), all of Bas-Cap-Pelé; two daughters: Roselind Bourgeois (Jean Guy) of Shediac Cape and Mona Auffrey (Roger) of Pré-d’en-Haut; one sister-in-law, Sarah Vautour (late Donat) of Bas-Cap-Pelé; one brother-in-law, Edmond Duguay (late Bertha) of Bas-Cap-Pelé; 24 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.

He was predeceased by his wife Léontine (2011); one daughter, Eva Boudreau (Norbert) of College Bridge; four sisters: Clara Donelle (late Freddie) of Bas-Cap-Pelé, Elmira Bourque (late David) of Trois-Ruisseaux, Viola LeBlanc (late Edgar) of Bas-Cap-Pelé, Bertha Duguay (Edmond) of Bas-Cap-Pelé; two brothers: Alcide (late Emma), and Donat (Sarah), both of Bas-Cap-Pelé.

Due to the current Coronavirus pandemic and at the request of the family, a private service will be held at a later date. In memory of Françis, a donation to the St-Thérèse d’Avila cemetery in Cap-Pelé or to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated.

Funeral arrangements are in the professional care of Frenette Funeral and Cremation Centre, in Cap-Pelé (577-3297).
