Mary M. Babineau, a resident of Auberge du Soleil and formerly of Lewisville, passed away at the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont UHC on Monday July 13, 2020 at the age of 98. She was the daughter of the late Camille and Euphémie (Bourgeois) Babineau.
Mary was employed with T. Eaton until its closure and went on to work for the Federal Government until her retirement. Mary travelled extensively throughout Europe, the United States and Canada. She remained independent well into her nineties. She attended mass on a regular basis and belonged to St-Louis-de-France parish until its closure. She is the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Mary is survived by three nieces: Rita Chase (late James) of Moncton, Jean Anne Amico (Louis) of Fitchburg, MA, and Margaret West (Ron) of Waltham, MA; as well as many great nieces and nephews, and great great nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by four sisters: Alma, Bertha, Anita and Eva; three brothers: Blair, Eloi and Albert; and two nephews: David Babineau (Cietta) and Jim Babineau (Jeanne).
The family would like to thank the staff of Auberge du Soleil for the excellent care and attention given to Mary.
By request, there will be no visitation at the funeral centre. The funeral mass will be celebrated at Notre-Dame-de-la-Paix R.C. Church, 87 Murphy Avenue, Moncton on Thursday July 16 at 10:30 am. Due to Covid-19, no reception will take place. Interment will be in Our Lady of Calvary cemetery, Dieppe. In memory of Mary, a contribution to a charity of the donor’s choice or a mass offering would be appreciated.
