Alfred "Fred" Gauvin

1937-2020

Alfred "Fred" Gauvin

It is with great sadness that we announce that Alfred "Fred" Gauvin, passed away peacefully at his residence in Pointe-du-Chêne, on Monday July 20, 2020 at the age of 82. Born in Shediac, he was the son of the late Willie and Madeleine (Allain) Gauvin. Fred was the 6th in a family of 8 children and that he was the most annoying!

Fred liked to tease those he liked and that was his very own way of showing affection. He was a sales representative and entrepreneur during his long career in the power transmission parts industry in the greater Montreal area where he lived for nearly 40 years. He was passionate, curious, intelligent, handyman and competitive. He loved team sports which he played throughout his life. He enjoyed the camaraderie that reigned there, and it was the perfect context to play the jester and make people laugh! He loved thrills: he dived in Hawaii, skydived, rappelled into a cave in Mexico, and ziplined in Las Vegas. Fred had just celebrated his 59th wedding anniversary on July 15.

He will be sorely missed, and we ask you Lord to welcome him to you.

He is survived by his wife, Roberte (Belliveau) Gauvin; three children: Janice, Gilles (Renée) and Pierre (Julie) all of Montreal; three grandchildren: Maxime, Alex and Anthony; four brothers and sisters: Geneva (Jean-Victor Haché) of Valleyfield, QC, Léonard (Irène) of Brossard, QC, Fernande (Don Hatton) of Liscomb, NS and Lorenzo (Daphne) of TN; brothers in-law and sisters in-law, as well as many nieces, nephews and dear friends.

He is predeceased by his three brothers: Laurie (late Mercedes), Robert (late Rita) and Roméo (Lilianne).
