Arthur Léger, 95, of Moncton, passed away on Tuesday September 15, 2020 at the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont UHC. Born in Moncton, he was the son of the late Francis and Dessie (Cormier) Léger.
Arthur attended the college of Bathurst where he not only exceled academically, but showed great talent as a defenseman for the hockey team. He then proceeded to shine while he played for two years with the St John Beavers (1949 and 1950). He then chose to follow a career in finances where he was employed by Traders Financial. One of Arthur’s great interest was harness racing where he spent time with friends. After retirement, he gave of his time to the Kidney Foundation, played golf, and loved spending time with his family. He is survived by two sisters: Doris Poirier (Donald) and Patricia Murray, both of Dieppe; one brother, Raymond (Doris) of Moncton; as well as several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his wife, Florence née Gaudet; three sisters: Anita, Adrienne, and Alice; three brothers: Alfred, Léo, and Father Eudist Omer Léger.
There will be no visitation at the funeral centre. The funeral mass will be celebrated at Christ-Roi R.C. church, 300 Dominion Street, Moncton on Saturday September 19 at 11 am. Interment will be in Our Lady of Calvary cemetery, Dieppe. Face coverings are required and social distancing regulations are in effect. In memory of Arthur, a contribution to the Kidney Foundation would be appreciated. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Frenette Funeral and Cremation Centre, Moncton (858-1900).
