Hilda Cormier

Hilda Cormier, 96, of Saint-André-LeBlanc, passed away peacefully on Saturday September 19, 2020 at Castel-des-Flots-Bleus where she was a resident for more than eight years. Born in St-André de Shediac, she was the daughter of the late Olivier and Marie (Léger) Landry, and the loving wife of the late Aristide Cormier.

She was a faithful member of Ste-Thérèse-d’Avila R.C. Church in Cap-Pelé, member of Légion de Marie, Charismatic and Association Loisirs Saint-André-LeBlanc.

Family was always her first priority, only going to work after children were older. She retired from Landry & Landry Lobster Shop. She was a talented musician, being able to play different instruments, her favorite was the keyboard. She would also assist the doctors for home birth. She was a great cook, seamstress, crocheter, knitter, and quilter. Lucky are those who received a painting done by her loving hands. She loved family gatherings and lots of laughs. She was hard to beat at cards and word games. She also loved trout fishing.

She is survived by five sons: Denis (Marie-Mae) of Saint-André-LeBlanc, Roger (Marguerite) of Grand-Barachois, Paul (late Mabel) of Moncton, Léonard (Francine) and Victor (Jill), both of Shediac; 10 grandchildren: Liza, Luc, Paula, Nicole, Marc, Julien, Danika, Charmaine, Sylvie, and Yves; 10 great-grandchildren: Shelby, Genna, Jessica, Simon, Michael, Sebastien, Skye, Ella, Dax, and Danielle; one daughter-in-law, Rachel Cormier of Moncton; one son-in-law, Robert Lee of Calgary, Alberta; two sisters: Sr Phyllis Landry ndsc of Moncton, and Rose-Marie Goguen of Fitchburg, MA; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her only daughter, Phyllis Lee; two sisters: Bella Vienneau and Corinne Melanson; and one brother, Lionel Landry.

The family will receive condolences at Frenette Funeral and Cremation Centre, 2642 Acadie Road, Cap-Pelé (577-3297) on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm and Thursday from 9:30 am until time of departure (10:15). The funeral mass will be celebrated at Ste-Thérèse-d’Avila R.C. Church, 2646 Acadie Road, Cap-Pelé, Thursday September 24 at 10:30 am. Interment will be in parish cemetery. The funeral mass will be videotaped, and the video will be available on her obituary on our Website by the end of the day. Face coverings are required and social distancing regulations are in effect. In memory of Hilda, a contribution to Diabetes Canada, the Canadian Cancer Society, or to a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated.
