Camille Doiron, 88, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 8, 2020, at home surrounded by his loving family as well as his special friend, Maria Roy. Born in Shediac, he was the son of Olivier and Juliette (Vautour) Doiron.
As a young man, while Canada was fighting in the Korean War, he joined the Canadian Army. As an infantryman with the Royal 22e Regiment (the Van Doos), he was deployed to the Korean peninsula where he served his country with distinction and honour. Throughout his life, he remained a proud veteran and a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 33 for which he was president for many years.
A proud resident of Shediac, he represented and served his community through various roles including as a town councillor under 6 different mayors during a period spanning almost 20 years. As an entrepreneur, he owned and operated Cam’s Confectionary & Laundromat.
Despite his many accomplishments, he was most proud of his family. Along with his beloved wife, the late Albertina Doiron, their family grew to include 4 children, 6 grandchildren, 2 step-granddaughters and 5 great-grandchildren; all of whom will miss him dearly.
He is survived by his children: Olivier (Denise), Léo (Carole), of Shediac, Ann Doiron-Benchabane (Yazide) of Dubai, Rita Doiron-MacAleese (Dan) of Shediac and special niece Diane Starchuk; sisters and brothers: Rita Richard (Late Dan) of Shediac, Joseph "Joe" (Cécilia) of Ontario, Marguerite Doiron of Ontario and Daniel "Dan" (Diane) of Shediac; grandchildren: Pierre, France, Justin, Mark, Camille, Léo-François; step-granddaughters: Mélanie and Michelle; great-grandchildren: Émilie, Sophie, Adèle, Louis and Simon; partner Maria Roy and family.
