René Gaudet, 89, of Dieppe, passed away on Friday December 18, 2020 at the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont UHC. Born in Saint-Joseph, he was the son of the late René and Alma (Landry) Gaudet.
René was a baseball fan and a proud player of the 1949 Dieppe Cardinals Maritime Champions. He was the former owner of Gaudet Electric Motor Repair.
He is survived by two daughters: Paulette Bourque (Alcide Caissie) of Moncton, and Lise Eagle (Ron) of Dieppe; two sons: Ronald (Linda), and Charles (Monique), both of Dieppe; eight grandchildren: Christine, Marc, Julien, Christian, Rémi, Mireille, Serge, and Luc; four great-grandchildren: Raphaëlle, Mila, Taylor, and Samara; one sister, Annette Melanson of Ottawa, ON; three brothers: Raoul of Toronto, Paul (Ruby) of Oshawa, ON, and Francis (Hannah) of Calgary, AB; as well as several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his wife, Anita née LeBlanc (2009); two sisters: Rosina Nowlan and Doris Boudreau; and six brothers: Gérard, Guy, Léo, Léonce, Alonzo and baby Ronaldo.
By request, there will be no visitation at the funeral centre. The funeral mass will be celebrated at Sainte-Thérèse-de-l’Enfant-Jésus, 457 Acadie Avenue, Dieppe on Tuesday, December 29 at 11 am. Due to the pandemic, face coverings are required and a maximum participation of 80 people with social distancing regulations are in effect. Interment will be in Our Lady of Calvary cemetery in Dieppe. The funeral mass will be videotaped and posted later in the afternoon on his obituary. In memory of René, a contribution to the house of Nazareth or the Moncton Food Bank would be appreciated.
