Sister Ruth Calvert f.j.
Sister Ruth Calvert, in religion Richard-Maria, Fille de Jésus, of Canterbury Hall in Riverview, passed away on Saturday January 30, 2021 at The Moncton Hospital, at the age of 82, and in the 62nd year of her religious profession. Born in Campbellton, she was the daughter of the late James Calvert and the late Olga Duguay of Dalhousie.
Besides her religious family, she is survived by two sisters: Barbara Bowes from Fredericton, and Ruby Lagacé from Saint John; five brothers: Richard and Walter from St. Thomas, Ont., Robert and Paul from Dalhousie, and John from Pokemouche; and by many nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by one brother, James.
Sister Ruth spent part of her life working in the teaching profession, then in pastoral work and catechist coordinator in D’Escousse and Arichat, Nova Scotia. Wherever she lived, she exercised her talents as a musician and artist for the benefit of the community.
Due to the pandemic, the funeral service will be celebrated and announced at a later date. Interment will be in Our Lady of Calvary cemetery, Dieppe. Funeral arrangements are in the professional care of Frenette Funeral and Cremation Centre, Moncton (858-1900).
