Alcide Léger

1928-2021

Alcide Léger

Alcide Léger, 92, of Shediac and formerly of Dupuis-Corner, passed away on Saturday March 13, 2021 at his residence. Born in Dupuis-Corner, he was the son of the late Stanislas and Albina (Thibodeau) Léger.

Prior to his retirement, Alcide was the owner and operator of Alcide Léger Produce in Dupuis-Corner. After his retirement, he loved working in his workshop doing woodworking, carpentry, and he was a jack of all trades. Alcide was a volunteer for the Cap-Pelé Minor Hockey for many years, member of the Golden Age Club and Chevaliers de Colomb of Grand-Barachois.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Élise Léger née Bourgeois; three children: Monette (late Raymond Nadeau) of Shediac, Dianne Landry (Roger) of Cap-Pelé and Charles (Susan Cormier) of Grand-Barachois; two sisters: Hélèna Bourque (late Néri) of Cap-Pelé and Claudette Plummer (Georges) of Grand-Barachois; three brothers: Camille (Pauline) of Cap-Pelé, Léandre (Lucille) and Joseph (Jeannita) all of Grand-Barachois; five grandchildren: Krystal, Kyle, Stéphanie, Anik and Rémi; six great-grandchildren: Sofiya, Beckham, Mia, Améliya, Kealan and Easton, as well as many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by a daughter, Jocelyne (2006); four sisters: Alice, Eveline, Marguerite and Juliette; two brothers: Emery and Oswald.

The family will receive condolences at Frenette Funeral and Cremation Centre, 396 Main Street, Shediac (532-3297) on Friday March 19, 2021 2 to 4 pm only. Due to the pandemic, face coverings are required for visitation and social distancing regulations are in effect. Limit of 50 people in the funeral centre at any given point during visitation.

The funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Henri R.C. Church, 1356 Route 133, Grand-Barachois on Saturday March 20 at 10:30 am. Internment will be in the parish cemetery. Due to the pandemic, limit of 80 people for the funeral mass, face coverings are required, and social distancing regulations are in effect.

The funeral mass will be videotaped and will be available on his obituary on our Website by the end of the day.

In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or donor’s choice would be appreciated.
