It is with great sadness that we share with you the sudden passing of our much loved Mom, Anne Poirier (née Bernard), 92, of Dieppe, on Saturday March 20, 2021, at The Moncton Hospital. She was the beloved wife of the late Joseph "Joe" Poirier (2001). Born in Tignish, PEI, to Joseph and Judith (née Poirier) Bernard, she was the second youngest of 11 siblings.
Anne was a role model to her children, her family and her friends. She lived independently, still drove, bowled regularly (pre-Covid) and loved to play cards. She was competitive but generous in supporting and helping others. She knitted baby hats for newborns and mitts, socks, hats, scarfs that were delivered to Crossroads for Women prior to Christmas. She learned to play the guitar in her seventies with the help of her son. She was outgoing, loved to socialize and was always ready to dance and enjoy a party.
She is survived by her four children: Elisabeth, Ronald (Jeanne), Brenda LeBlanc (Michel) all of Moncton, and Claudette Levac (Maurice) of Winnipeg; a sister, Evelyn Furlong (late Terry) of Montréal; two brothers: Gus Bernard (Lena) and Ben Bernard (Mary) all of Tignish; a sister-in-law, Marion Bernard (late Fred) of Ontario; five grand-children whom she loved dearly: Rachel Zimmerman (Brandon), Gilles Poirier (Brigitte Leblanc), Melanie Felix (Andy), Mathieu Leblanc and Brittney Hoyt; two great-grandchildren: Kingston and Kaydence Felix; five step-great grandchildren; her godchild and special niece, Diane LeBlanc (Billy); her nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends. Also, left to grieve her loss, her special family, Marg and Bernie Goguen, their sons Serge and Gilles (her first grandsons) and their families, whom she loved like her own.
She was predeceased by her infant son, Joseph; seven siblings: Edna Fougère, Marie Cloutier, Edmond, Larry, Tim, Phil and Fred; several brothers-in-law, sisters-in-laws, nieces and nephews.
We would like to thank all of her health care providers, especially Dr Greg Donald, Dr Heidi James, Dr Sasha Cormier-Myers, Krista and Dr Touraj Shakerinia, and her end of life care providers, especially Travis and the staff of the NICU and the ER. A heartfelt "Thank You" to her wonderful neighbours and friends of Sifroi Court, where she resided for 14 years. We always felt that she was secure there because of your friendship, your help and your support. We will always be very grateful to you. Know that she considered you family.
