Ronald "Cougan" Goguen

Ronald "Cougan" Goguen

It is with great sadness that the family of Ronald A. Goguen of Shediac, formerly of Cap-Pelé, announce his passing at the Dr. Georges-L. Dumont UHC on Wednesday, March 31, 2021 at the age of 67, from a lengthy battle with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD).

Growing up in the fishing village of Cap-Pelé NB, his passion for lobster started as a fisherman then a long-haul truck driver for 27 years for Pier 99 and lastly at Edmond Gagnon Ltd as a security guard.

He especially loved his fur-friends Missy & Snuggle, playing crib and going for drives visiting different wharfs, family and friends.

Ronald was a member of Alcoholics Anonymous and celebrated 30 years of sobriety on November 20, 2020. He was also a four-year cancer survivor. We will never forget his words: "My name is Ronald Goguen, and I am a fighter."

He will be lovingly remembered by his mother, Albina Goguen, née Cormier; his common-law wife of 27 years, Albertine; his daughter, Angela (Jamie) and step-daughter, Tammy (Paulette); his grandchildren: Damien and Emma; his siblings: Gisèle Girouard (late Wayne) of Dieppe, Delcia Boudreau (Clairence) and Lucille Doiron (Francis) both from Grand-Barachois, Francis (Denise) of Cap-Pelé, Jeanine LeBlanc (Larry) of Memramcook, Shirley Fontaine (Bernard) of Grand-Barachois, Nancy Landry (Marc) of Boudreau-West; several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends as well as the mother of his daughter, Annette.

He was predeceased by his father, Amédée Goguen (2011) and his infant sister, Jeannette.

We would like to thank like Père Arthur, Dr. M Gaudet, Dr. J Allain, Dr. E Brideau, Dr. N Daniel, Dr. M McNeil, Dr. P Verger, Jean-Coutu Shediac, the nurses in section 3D and all the extra-mural personnel.

A private visitation will be held at Frenette Funeral and Cremation Centre, 396 Main Street, Shediac on Monday, April 5 from 7 pm to 9 pm only.

Due to the pandemic, face coverings are mandatory during visits and social distancing must be observed. A limit of 50 people is in effect during visiting hours at the funeral home.

The funeral mass will be held at St. Joseph R. C. Church, 415 Main Street, Shediac on Tuesday, April 6 at 2 pm. Face coverings are mandatory.

In memory of Ronald, a contribution made to the Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) or to a charity of the donor’s choice  would be appreciated.

Cremation and funeral arrangements are under the direction of Frenette Funeral and Cremation Centre, Shediac (532-3297).
