It is with profound sadness that we
announce that Maurice B. LeBlanc, 74, of Dieppe, passed away
peacefully at the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont UHC on Wednesday July 21, 2021
after a brief illness. Maurice was born in Moncton to Albert and
Clarinda of Dieppe.
He is survived by the love of his
life for 44 years, Monique née Richard; two sons: Justin
(Melissa) of Cocagne, and Gregoire (Carrie) of Montréal; a
sister Janice (Raymond), a brother Sylvio (Anne Marie),
sisters-in-law: Carmen, Gibby (Paul), and Gin (Jack), brother-in-law
Clermont (Annette), as well as many nieces and nephews.
Maurice was educated at local
schools and the Université de Moncton. He had a highly
successful career with Chrysler Canada occupying a series of Senior
Executive positions in Montreal, Toronto, and Windsor before retiring
back home to Dieppe.
Maurice had an uncanny ability to
make friends quickly with anyone wherever he went. He had an easy
smile, a friendly demeanour, a quick wit, and an extremely generous
heart. His love of life and his ability to live for the moment were
infectious. He had friends everywhere and he never had a bad word to
say about anyone. He drew people to his circle of friends like a
powerful magnet.
He was always present when family
and friends asked for his help. He gave without asking for anything in
return, always knowing how to give, rarely how to ask.
He was the centre of every party
and the hub that kept friends connected to one another. He was
Facebook before Facebook was invented. He was always the go-to guy
whenever friends wanted to organize golf trips or get-togethers to
celebrate anniversaries. He earned the title "Chairman of the
Board For Life" because of his superior organizing skills. He
left nothing to chance when planning get togethers.
He played golf with passion, always
at the ready with an explanation whenever his or anyone else's shot
did not go in the intended direction. He always had the latest golf
equipment, fashion in golf shirts, shoes, hats, and bags. He took it
upon himself to identify the best local golf club and he would
negotiate the best deal for the year. Several friends would invariably
follow his lead and join the club that he had selected. He was
tolerant of most things and of everyone but not when one was critical
of his Montreal Canadiens.
Maurice’s lionheart was
truly unique and he will never be replaced. His passing leaves a void
in the lives and hearts of many.
The family will receive condolences at Frenette Funeral and
Cremation Centre, 88 Church Street, Moncton (858-1900) on Saturday
July 24 from 2 to 4 pm followed by a sharing of memories. Due to the
pandemic, face coverings are required and a maximum participation of
100 people at a time with social distancing regulations are in effect.
In memory of Maurice, a contribution to the CHU Dumont Foundation
(palliative care) would be appreciated.
