Jacques Cormier, 62, of Shediac, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, on Thursday, August 1, 2024, at Maison Albert House (SENB), Moncton, following a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Moncton, he was the son of Ulysse and Simone (Léger) Cormier.

Jacques is survived by his beloved wife, Jackie (Jacqueline Belliveau); his brothers and sister: Marcel (Florence) of Dieppe, Gisèle Cormier (Carol Dallaire) of Jonquière, Québec, and Denis (Marie-Claire) of Dieppe; his Aunt Rita Landry (late Louis) of Shediac, as well as his nieces and nephews: André, Chantal, René, Julie, Janie, Andrew, Adam, Aimée, Manon, Kevin, Stéphane, and Ricky.

In 2021, Jacques retired from a lifelong career as a truck driver, marking over 40 years and millions of kilometres of accident-free driving for various companies. He played junior hockey for the Kitchener Rangers and Kingston Canadians of the Ontario Hockey League, as well as senior hockey for the Grand Falls-Windsor Cataracts in Newfoundland and Labrador. Jacques had a passion for travelling and the outdoors, enjoying activities such as cottage life, biking, and snowshoeing. He was known for his quick wit and great sense of humour, always bringing joy and laughter to those around him. Above all, Jacques was a caring and generous person who touched the lives of many.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to the wonderful staff and volunteers of Hospice Albert House for their compassionate care and support, and to family and friends for their unwavering support during this difficult time.

The family will receive condolences at the Frenette Funeral and Cremation Centre, 396 Main Street, Shediac where a Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, August 9 at 11:00 am. Visiting hours will be Thursday, August 8 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm and 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm, Friday from 9:30 am to 10:45 am. The Celebration of Life will be videotaped, and the video will be available on his obituary on the Frenette Website at the end of the day.

In memory of Jacques, a donation to the Hospice Maison Albert House (SENB) would be appreciated.
