François Babin, 81, of Moncton, passed away on Thursday, October 10, 2024, at his residence. Born in Richibucto, he was the son of the late Alyre and Céleste (Robichaud) Babin.

A graduate of the Université de Moncton in 1964 with a Bachelor's Degree in Commerce, François pursued his professional career at Eaton's, Richibucto Cartier Co-op, and United Maritime Fishermen. He also served as President of the Board of Directors of Co-op Atlantic and was involved in many business ventures until his retirement. François was an avid golfer who spent much of his time playing with friends and enjoying a game that regularly challenged him. A dedicated Montreal Canadiens fan, he never missed a game. He and his beloved wife, Eva, spent many nights cheering them on together.

François is survived by his wife of 58 years, Eva (Chevarie); two children: Jacques (Tina) and Lise Babin (Roger Melanson); four grandchildren: Patrick, Mathieu, Émilie, and Simon; one brother, Arthur (Fernande); as well as his nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the many health care professionals who cared for François, specifically Dr. Jules Cormier, Dr. Eric Brideau, and the many employees of the Extra-Mural program, with special thanks to Veronique.

The family will receive condolences at Frenette Funeral and Cremation Centre, 88 Church Street, Moncton (506-858-1900), where the funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 17, at 11 a.m. Visiting hours are Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Thursday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the funeral. Interment will take place in the Saint-Charles parish cemetery. In memory of François, a contribution to the CHU Dumont Foundation would be appreciated.
