It is with profound sadness
that we announce the passing of Brian Burke, age 70, at The Moncton
Hospital on March 28, 2025, after a brief illness with cancer. Born in
Portage, NB, he was the son of the late Alfred James and Margaret Rose
(Niles) Burke.
Brian was co-owner of Alfred
J. Burke & Sons Ltd., along with his father and two brothers,
Junior and Doug for nearly 40 years. At 16, he started driving trucks
for his father’s business and, over time, helped expand
their operations from hauling wood to transporting seafood and fish
across the Atlantic provinces for local businesses. Brian was known
for his unwavering dedication and hard work, which helped the small,
family-run trucking and construction business grow into a respected
part of the local economy.
Brian enjoyed traveling with
family and friends, snowmobiling with his buddies in the winter and
spending time by the water in the summer. Most of all, he loved
visiting his daughters, sons-in-law, and
grandkids.
Brian is survived by his wife
of 45 years, Charleen; his daughters: Jessica Heke (Chris) and Sarah
Burke Dimitrov (Andrey) both of Victoria, BC; his grandchildren:
Rowan, Lexi and Nikolai; his siblings: Elaine Ouellette (Amand) of
Grand-Barachois, Lois Landry (Jean) of Shediac, Douglas Burke (Anise)
and Rose-Lynn Bourque (Guy) both of Portage; his mother-in-law,
Elizabeth Boleyn, and his brother-in-law, Donnie (Micheline) Boleyn,
originally of Bas-Cap-Pelé; his aunt, Yvonne Brun of
Shediac; as well as many nephews, nieces, cousins, and
friends.
In addition to his parents, he
was predeceased by his brother, Alfred Burke Jr. "Junior";
his sister-in-law, Janita; his infant siblings: James, Joan, and
Barry; as well as his father-in-law, Donald
Boleyn.
