On Tuesday, March 25, 2025, the world lost a little of its
light as Ronald Gerald Babineau slipped peacefully into eternal rest
at the Veterans’ Health Centre in Moncton.
At 95, Ron departed this life as he lived it—with
unwavering strength, boundless love, and a fierce spirit that left an
indelible mark on all who knew him. Born in Moncton to the late
Francis and Adélia (LeBlanc) Babineau, he carried the pride
of his hometown through a life brimming with purpose and
passion.
He leaves behind his beloved wife of 70 years, Margaret
(Caissie), a living testament to enduring love; his son, David
(Patty), his sister, Theresa Halik (Matt), and a treasured circle of
nieces and nephews. Ron now reunites with his daughter, Susan, his
parents, and his siblings—Gloria, Ramona, Francis, Howard,
William "Bill", Alphonse "Al", and
Roger—in a joyful gathering beyond this world. The void they
leave is profound, yet their memory is a comfort.
Ron’s journey was defined by service and
dedication. After dedicating years in the Canadian Air Force, he
retired only to pour his energy to the Moncton Coliseum, where he
served the City of Moncton as the Coliseum Superintendent. Ron was an
avid hockey, swimming, fitness, and boxing player and
coach—a role that reflected his loyalty, discipline and
tenacity. Yet it was in the quieter moments—his warm voice,
the wisdom he shared, the stories he spun—that he truly wove
himself into our hearts.
Ron was a force of nature—proud, dignified, and
self-reliant, yet deeply rooted in faith. He lived with purpose,
setting a standard of hard work and care that will resonate for
generations. His greatest gift, though, was the love he poured into
his family and friends—unconditional, generous, and
ever-present. To know Ron was to be seen, cherished, and lifted by a
man who never hesitated to go the extra mile.
As we say goodbye, we cling to the certainty that
Ron’s spirit endures, threaded through the tapestry of our
lives. Imagine him now—standing tall at heaven’s
gates, vibrant and whole, surrounded by loved ones, his laughter
echoing once more. Ron is home, and though we grieve, we take comfort
in knowing he is at peace. Rest well.
A mass celebrating his life will be held at St.
Bernard’s R.C. Church in Moncton, with an interment at Our
Lady of Calvary Cemetery in Dieppe this fall. In lieu of flowers,
contributions to the Veterans’ Health Centre, a cause dear
to Ron, are welcomed.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Frenette Funeral and
Cremation Centre, Moncton (506-858-1900).
