In Loving Memory of Nora Mae Jessome (Shaw)

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Nora Mae Jessome (Shaw), a woman whose life was defined by her fierce spirit, creativity, and deep love for her family. She passed away peacefully on April 5, 2025 at the age of 93.

Born June 9, 1931 in Indian Brook, Cape Breton Island, Nora was immensely proud of her Cape Breton roots. She carried the strength and resilience of her heritage throughout her life. She was known for her incredible skill as a dart player, competing in many leagues over the years. Whether in a competitive setting or a casual match, her sharp aim and determination earned her the admiration of many.

Nora had an enduring passion for crafting. At any given time, visitors would find her deeply immersed in a plastic canvas project, a testament to her creativity and the joy she found in making something beautiful with her hands. Her passion for crafting showcased her creative flair and meticulous nature.

For much of her life, Nora worked alongside her sister, Joanne Shaw, at Greenoughs Bakery in Pointe-Du-Chene, NB. This was a place she cherished, and the time spent there was an integral part of her life.

One of the most cherished memories of her family will always be her baking. Nora showed her love through the baked goods she made, and her grandchildren will forever miss her homemade treats, especially her famous "Nana's Oatmeal Cookies." No visit was complete without a warm batch of cookies or a lemon pie, a sweet symbol of her love and care.

Nora leaves behind her children: Ronnie Jessome (Liane), Irene Caissie (Jessome), Shirley Vautour (Jessome) (Conrad), and Nelson Jessome (Charline). She had many beautiful grandchildren: Jeremy Wallace, Joshua Wallace, Jesse Wallace, Jolene Wallace, Joey Wallace, Paul (PJ) Vautour, Phylisha Vautour, Matthew Aubut, Natalie Leger, Sheila Belliveau, Annie Oulton (Belliveau), Jordynn Fleury, Kyle Fleury and Jeff Gallant, as well as many great grandchildren whom she loved.

Nora was predeceased by her mother Sarah Shaw, sister Joanne Shaw and two brother Nelson and John D. As well as her daughter Bonnie Wallace (Jessome) and great granddaughter Sara Wallace.

A special thank you to Vivian and all the staff at Résidence De L’Harmonie for all of their hard work and dedication.

In accordance with her wishes, there will be no visitation and no funeral. Interment will be in Greenwood cemetery. In memory of Nora, a contribution to the charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated. Cremation and funeral arrangements are under the direction of Frenette Funeral and Cremation Centre, Shediac (506-532-3297).
