Géraldine Richard, 85, of Shediac, passed away on Friday April 4, 2025, at the Albert Hospice House in Moncton. Born in Shediac, she was the daughter of the late Jean and Annie (Durelle) Després.
On July 9, 1960, she married the love of her life, Aldérice Richard. Together, they raised 4 children: Charles (Lucie Leger), Normand (Donna Cormier), Monette (Vance Morgan), all of Shediac and Marc (Anik LaFlamme) of Candiac Quebec.
Prior to her retirement, she worked as a librarian at the Librarie Acadienne of the Université de Moncton. She also enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren whom she cherished; Christien, Joël, Véronique, Jérémie, Gabriel and Raphaël. Her greatest joy was to meet her great-grandchildren whom she adored, Celeste, Julianne, Leo, Kye, Hugo and was anxiously awaiting the arrival of a new great-grandson in May. She loved reading, knitting as well as travelling and discovering hidden secrets with Al.
She is predeceased by her loving husband Alderic; and her seven brothers; Lionel, Levi, Henri, Normand, Eric, Adrien and Victor, and her three sisters; Juliette, Evelyne and Eva.
The family will receive condolences at Frenette Funeral Centre, 396 Main Street, Shediac (506-532-3297) on Thursday April 24, 2025, from 3 to 6 pm only. The funeral service will be celebrated at St-Joseph R.C. Church, 415 Main Street, Shediac on Friday April 25, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. Interment will be in the St-Joseph cemetery in Shediac at a later date.
