The passing of Audrey Jean Bourque of Fredericton and formerly of Moncton occurred on Saturday, April 5, 2025 at York Care Centre. She was the wife of the late Norman A. Bourque. Born on July 4, 1935 in Salem, NB, she was the daughter of the late Harris Verne and Hazel Winnifred (Field) Steeves.

Audrey was a very talented seamstress, she had a large imagination and could make anything, she created wedding dresses and costumes. She loved to cultivate flowers and made wonderful meals and desserts. She was active at First Baptist Church in Moncton for many years as a member and a volunteer.

Audrey is survived by her daughters: Kathryn Gonzalez (Rafael) and Shelley Pronk (Toon); son, James Doyle (Krista); step-daughters: Angela Caissie-LeBouthillier (Eric) and Andrea Melanson (Marc); grandchildren: Ruben Gonzalez, Jenna Steeves, Carmen Shaw, Shannon Goodwin, Rory Pronk, Keegan Pronk and Anne Sophie Caissie; 10 great-grandchildren; sister, Barbara Beal (late Oakley); sisters-in-law, Beatrice Steeves (late Douglas) and Gisele McCaie-Burke (late Raymond); as well as several nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents and husband, Audrey was predeceased by sister, Eileen (late Armand) Babineau; brother, Douglas Steeves, and first husband, William Doyle.

The family wishes to thank the staff of Birch Grove at York Care Centre for their kindness and excellent care through Mom’s final years.

Visitation will take place at Frenette Funeral and Cremation Centre, 88 Church Street, Moncton (506-858-1900) on Thursday, April 17, 2025 from 2 to 4 pm. Interment will be in Salem, NB, at a later date. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
